Income Tax (IT) officials continued their raids for the third consecutive day on the residences and business establishments of former Odisha Minister Naba Kishore Das in Sambalpur, in connection with alleged tax evasion on Saturday.

The raids, which began on the morning of June 19, are being carried out at four key locations linked to the former minister in Sambalpur. These include his residence at Mudipada, Hotel Mandarin at VSS Marg, another hotel in Bhalupali, and a shopping mall in Ainthapali. Additionally, the house of one of Naba Das’ associates in Shanti Nagar was also searched.

Seized Items So Far

During the raids on Friday, the officials reportedly seized a computer hard drive from Hotel Mandarin and examined various financial documents.

Despite the extensive operations, there has been no official statement from either Naba Das’ family or the Income Tax Department so far regarding the outcome or findings of the raids.

The high-profile raid has triggered significant political and public interest, given Naba Das’ prominence in Odisha politics before his untimely death.

Previous Raids

Earlier in January this year, the IT department conducted a series of raids targeting properties linked to the family of the late BJD leader in Sambalpur.

The simultaneous raids were conducted at the properties linked to Brajakishore Das, a super-class contractor and brother to the deceased leader, Naba Das.
