Is BJD on brink of collapse?
While senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra has confidently predicted that BJD’s days are numbered, Congress leader Mohammed Moquim has claimed that many BJD leaders have been waiting to join Congress after the formation of the new Pradesh Congress Committee body. Moreover, senior BJD leader Prafulla Ghadei has suggested that the party must be away from the inner squabbles to move forward. Following the poll debacle in the 2024 General Elections, the current circumstances have stoked speculation that BJD is on the brink of collapse in the near future.
“BJD’s time is coming to an end and the party is going to collapse soon. Many BJD leaders are eager to join BJP and they are in touch with the party. BJD leaders free from corruption may be considered. BJD doesn’t have leadership anymore. They considered everybody like servants. The leaders were engaged in digging holes and carrying chairs. Now, they are in a revengeful mood,” said Jayanarayan Mishra.
With many senior leaders leaving BJD recently, Jayanarayan’s explosive statement has inflicted fear in the Opposition party’s camp that their party is going to disintegrate soon.
Senior Congress leader Mohammed Moquim’s statement has also rubbed salt to BJD’s wound.
“Many BJD leaders are in touch with Congress. As Congress has not come to track yet, there has been a delay in the process. They are waiting to join Congress after the announcement of PCC president,” said Moquim.
Meanwhile, senior BJD leader Prafulla Ghadei has termed five reasons- candidates, management, funding, situation and responsibilities as the main factors behind the party’s defeat in the last election.
“BJD leaders should stop throwing mud at each other after the defeat in the elections. They should remain united to strengthen the party,” said Ghadei.
In response, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said that BJP and Congress should concentrate on their party problems rather than giving statements about BJD’s affairs.
“Nobody is denied to enjoy daydreaming. BJD is currently the number one political party in the State. Under the circumstance, if BJP and Congress are giving these kinds of statements, it reflects that their situation is not that well,” said Mohanty.
