Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Saturday asked if Bhubaneswar is a smart city in the true sense of the phrase while expressing his concerns over the capital city getting waterlogged even after a small spell of rain.
The Chief Minister attended the Local Self Governance Day event organised in Bhubaneswar. While addressing the gathering, he said, “We must have heard that a small spell of downpour triggers a flood-like situation near ISKCON temple. Traffic on the road in front of the temple comes to a halt. In the past, incidents of school children falling in open drains and getting swept away have been reported. Later, their bodies were recovered.”

“So, we have to make our city smart in the true sense and develop it. To make Bhubaneswar a smart city, problems like drinking water, drainage, health and electricity are to be addressed,” said the CM.
While appealing to all to work rising above party politics, he said the government would be impartial to all and give equal importance to all.
