An injured sub-adult leopard has been rescued from a forest in the Dasapalla area. The injured big cat is presently undergoing treatment at the Nandankanan’s veterinary hospital.
As per reports, the injured leopard was moving in the jungle. As it had injuries in its hind legs, it was somehow dragging itself with its front legs. After coming to know about this, the Chandaka Division’s rapid response team and a team of the Mahanadi Wildlife Division rushed to the spot and rescued the injured animal.

Thereafter, the animal was brought to the veterinary hospital of Nandankanan where experts from the OUAT and the hospital provided treatment.
Informing about the incident, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda said, “The rapid response team of the Chandaka division and a team of the Mahanadi Wildlife Division rescued an injured leopard yesterday afternoon. The animal was not able to walk on its hind legs. The animal has been brought to the veterinary hospital of Nandankanan. Experts of OUAT and Nandankanan are treating the animal. There is no evidence to ascribe its injuries to poaching or some foul play. After the examination, the cause of injuries can be established. We hope the expert teams will be successful in treating the animal and it will be released into the wild.”
