There seems to be no end to the ongoing internal feud within the BJD. The fissures in the conch party’s Bhubaneswar unit are getting wider with two corporators of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) levelling serious allegations against former minister Ashok Panda.
Corporators Amaresh Jena and Biranchi Narayan Supakar alleged that Panda had brought Rajesh Patra along with him to the meeting held at the party office Sankha Bhawan on Sunday where the latter caused a disturbance.
They said they had opposed the presence of Rajesh because he is a member of the BJP whereas the former minister took his side.
“We are against the person who has one foot in BJP camp and another in BJD. We opposed his presence in our meeting as he would possibly reveal our secrets before his party members. The party’s president won’t forgive and take action against anyone whoever he may be,” said Amaresh Jena.
Echoing the same, corporator Biranchi Narayan Supakar said, “During the meeting, we came to know that Rajesh Patra, a BJP member, was in the hall. When Amaresh and I went to him and asked him to stay away from the party meeting, a former minister was there who opposed us and left the meeting hall. All the corporators followed the suit.”
“We are disciplined members of the party. We didn’t have any intention of creating disturbance in the party. Our only motive was to know why Rajesh Patra was allowed to participate in party activities,” Supakar added.
No reactions were received from former minister Ashok Panda.
