Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jaynarayan Mishra on Sunday targeted Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not joining the G20 gala dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu.
Taking a swipe at the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief, Mishra said, “At the time when Droupadi Murmu was elected as the President of India, Naveen Babu called her as his sister. He was invited to the G20 banquet hosted by the President but he didn’t go.”
“He would know the reason why he didn’t go there. But it seems to me that a kind of inferiority complex might have pulled him back. He might have thought about what he would do there where great personalities were invited. He who has no talents develops an inferiority complex. Because of this inferiority complex, he didn’t go there,” Mishra added.
“His not attending the gala dinner has resulted in good for Odisha. At least, the state’s prestige has been saved. He has brought Odisha to such an extent that it has now been known for poverty and atrocity against women and all such things. Had he been there and someone had asked him about the per-head income what he would have said. Because of all these things, an inferiority complex might have grown in him and it stopped him from attending the party,” he observed.
On the other hand, the BJD is exalted at the Konark wheel having been given a pride of place at the G20 summit in New Delhi.
“It is a matter of great pride that a replica of world famous Konark wheel was there and the Prime Minister was receiving the guests with the wheel forming the backdrop. There at the summit, the best thing of a state was projected which is an indicator of recognizing the rich culture and tradition of India,” said BJD MP Amar Patnaik.
However, no reactions could be obtained from the BJD over the allegations of the LoP.
