Odisha government issues guidelines for re-engagement of retired government servants
The Odisha government, on Saturday, released a notification ordering the cancellation of all leaves for senior bureaucrats, including Regional Development Commissioners (RDCs) and district collectors, ordering them to return to their headquarters immediately.
The directive, issued in light of escalating India-Pakistan hostilities, mandates that no leave will be granted until further notice, in a move aimed at administrative readiness to handle potential emergencies arising from the crisis.
"I am directed to inform you that, in view of the ongoing war-like conditions on the Western front of the Country, all leaves sanctioned earlier in favour of all RDCs and Collector & DMs are hereby cancelled. All RDCs and Collector & DMs on leave, are instructed to return to headquarters and join in duty immediately. No further leave shall be granted to any officer during this period," said the letter from Additional Secretary to the Government, Manoj Kumar Mohanty.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar Cancels All Staff Leave
In a parallel development, AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Friday revoked leaves for all staff, including faculty, residents, and officers, and directed those on vacation to resume duties immediately.
A circular stated, “No leave of any kind, including sanctioned or vacation leave, will be granted except on medical grounds.”
Retaliatory Strikes: India Hammers Key Pakistani Airbases
This administrative mobilisation follows reports of Indian retaliatory strikes on three Pakistani airbases, in response to relentless drone attacks and missile strikes targeting Indian civilians.
According to current reports, the targeted facilities include:
Nur Khan Air Base (Rawalpindi): Located near Pakistan’s military headquarters, this high-security base houses VIP aircraft and combat squadrons.
Murid Air Base (Chakwal): A nerve centre for drone operations, including Shahpar-1 and Bayraktar TB2 models used in recent attacks on India.
Rafiqui Air Base (Shorkot): A strategic hub for JF-17 and Mirage jets, critical to Pakistan’s cross-border operations.
The strikes mark a significant escalation after weeks of border skirmishes, with Pakistan allegedly deploying Chinese-made weaponry.
MEA Briefing Awaited as Crisis Intensifies
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is expected to address the situation at a 10 AM press conference, detailing official accounts of the strikes and diplomatic next steps. Reports of missile strikes, responses, and advisories are expected to be addressed during the briefing.
