The Commissionerate Police has issued a series of traffic restrictions and diversions in the state capital, Bhubaneswar in view of the state-level Independence Day Parade and its rehearsals.

As per the notification, the restrictions will be in force on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and surrounding areas on August 11 and 12 from 2 pm to 6 pm, on August 13 from 7 am to 11:30 am. Similarly, the restriction will be in force on August 15 from 6 am until the completion of the parade.

Key measures include:

  • No heavy vehicles towards Master Canteen Square from Ram Mandir or Rajmahal sides.
  • Two-wheelers and light vehicles from Rajmahal can proceed towards Ram Mandir via the Master Canteen, but cannot turn towards PMG Square.
  • No vehicles from the Housing Board side towards Rabindra Mandap; diversion at Keshari Talkies.
  • No entry towards PMG Square from AG Square; diversion at Jaydev Bhawan Square.
  • Vehicles from 120 Battalion Square will be diverted towards Unit IV.
  • All lanes touching Mahatma Gandhi Marg will be sealed for vehicles, with only pedestrians allowed.
  • Police have urged commuters to plan accordingly and cooperate for the smooth conduct of the events.
