Though the Nor’wester triggered rains brought a little respite from the scorching heat wave conditions in some parts of Odisha on Wednesday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the intense heat wave conditions may prevail in several parts of the State on Thursday.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has issued Orange Warning for heat wave conditions in as many as 10 districts of the State today. These districts are Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Jharsuguda. Similarly, Yellow warning has been issued to as many as 11 districts.
Moreover, IMD has issued Orange and Yellow Warnings to as many as six districts each in Odisha for Friday.
However, as per the prediction by IMD, the maximum temperature is likely to reduce by 2-5 degree Celsius after May 5.
Talcher was the hottest city in Odisha on Friday with the mercury level touching up to 45 degree Celsius on Wednesday. As many as 15 districts in the State recorded maximum temperature over 43 degree Celsius. Several parts of coastal districts in the State witnessed a little bit decrease in the temperature level due to the Nor’wester triggered rains and hailstorm.
