Odisha continues to sizzle under severe heat wave conditions on Thursday. As many as three cities in the State recorded more than 35 degree Celsius as early as 8:30 am.
Talcher was the hottest place with maximum temperature of 35.8 degree Celsius by 8:30 this morning. While Angul and Balasore experienced maximum temperature of 35 degree Celsius each, Jagatsinghpur witnessed maximum temperature of 34.8 degree Celsius. Bhawanipatna, Nayagarh and Baripada recorded maximum temperature of 34 degree Celsius each.
Capital City Bhubaneswar experienced maximum temperature of 33.4 degree Celsius during the period.
As per the prediction of Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the heat wave condition will continue in Odisha till April 22. IMD has issued heat wave warning for 24 districts in the State. Moreover, Orange Warning has been issued to as many as four districts in the State for tomorrow.
Earlier, considering the prevailing heat wave condition in the State, Odisha government announced closure of schools for three days starting April 17.

“Talcher recorded 43.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. More than 41 degrees Celsius recorded in as many as 18 cities in the State. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack experienced maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius and 41.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. In the Coastal station, humidity varies from 40% to 80%. We have issued a heat wave condition warning in the State for the next five days,” said Regional MeT Department’s Director, Manorama Mohanty.
