IMD forecasts rainfall in Odisha districts till May 1

IMD Bhubaneswar forecasts light rain or thundershower in some Odisha districts from April 26 to May 1, predicting no major temperature changes initially. A heatwave persists in some areas. Warm night conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, and Bolangir.

With an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Bangladesh and neighbourhood becoming less marked, light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over some districts of Odisha starting April 26 till May 1.

This was forecasted on Friday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar.

Temperature Forecast: No large change is likely in the Maximum (day) temperature during the next two days, and thereafter a gradual fall by 3-5°C during the subsequent five days over the districts of Odisha.

Maximum temperature is likely to be above 42°C over the districts of Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, and Bargarh.

For Friday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 26.04.2025)

Light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Nuapada and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)- Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Boudh, and Bolangir.

Warm night conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, and Bolangir.

Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Subarnapur, Sundargarh, and Bargarh.

Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

For Saturday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.04.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2025)

Light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha, Mayurbhanj, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh, Sambalpur, and Bolangir.

Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
