IAS Sudhakar Burgi appointed new Chairman of OSSC
IAS Sudhakar Burgi IAS (Retd), Member of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), has been appointed to act as the Chairman, Bhubaneswar. The decision comes after the resignation of former DGP Abhay. The former OSSC Chairman recently resigned from his post on May 19, 2025.
“After careful consideration of the representation dated 19.05.2025 of Shri Abhay, Government has been pleased to accept the resignation of Shri Abhay, Chairman, Odisha Staff Selection Commission with immediate effect,” a notification by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Government of Odisha, read.
The notification further stated, “Shri Sudhakar Burgi IAS (Retd), Member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission, is allowed to act as the Chairman, Odisha Staff Selection Commission, Bhubaneswar in addition to his own duties until further orders.”
IAS Sudhakar had been selected as a member of the OSSC for a term of five years or until he turned 65. His salary, allowances, and service conditions were regulated by the OSSC (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of the Chairman and Members) Rules, 1995.
Apart from Sudhakar, Director, Census Operations, Udaya Narayan Das, and former professor in the department of English of Berhampur University Shruti Das have been appointed as members of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission.
While OPSC conducts recruitment tests for civil service posts in Group A and selected Group B services, OSSC is the recruitment agency for various positions in the state government departments and heads of departments which includes Group B and Group C non-technical posts.
