Huge haul of ganja and illegal Aska-40 seized in Bhubaneswar, two arrested
The Bhubaneswar Excise Department on Monday carried out a major operation, seizing large quantities of illegal liquor and ganja in separate incidents.
Two persons were arrested following the seizures. The raids were conducted following specific intelligence inputs about smuggling activities in the Odisha capital.
Liquor Seizures At Two Locations
Excise officials intercepted a car on Monday night while it was transporting Aska-40 illegally. The vehicle was detained between Kalpana Square and Rajmahal after a chase.
“We received a tip-off that a vehicle would enter Bhubaneswar with the items. We followed the car and detained it. In the search, we found 35 cartons of Aska-40 and seized cash of Rs 23,800. The liquor and the car were also seized,” said Raj Sekhar Swain, Deputy Superintendent of the Excise Department.
Till the last report came in, the accused were produced in court and further investigation was underway.
20 Kg Ganja Smuggling Foiled
In a separate operation, the Excise Department and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized nearly 20 kg of ganja. It was being smuggled out of the state. One accused was arrested.
