Huge amount of adulterated country-made liquor seized
Huge amount of adulterated country-made liquor along with other raw ingredients worth around Rs 17 lakh were seized during a joint crackdown by the Excise Department and Odisha Police in Ganjam district on Saturday.
As per reports, the illegal operation, manufacturing and distribution of country-made liquor was disrupted by the local authorities. The coordinated effort between the Excise Department and local police led to a major bust in the Patrapur area, operating under the jurisdiction of the Jarada police station.
The raid targeted several locations in proximity to the villages of Mashani Bada, Tadakasahi, Haripur, and Thangam. Investigations unveiled significant quantities of unauthorised liquor production occurring near forested areas and along water bodies.

During the operation, officials confiscated 27,000 litres of raw ingredients, such as molasses and other raw ingredients alongside 1,400 litres of adulterated country-made liquor. The enforcement team also retrieved equipment, including drums, used in the production processes.
The total value of the seized liquor and associated materials is estimated at Rs 17 lakh, reflecting the extensive nature of this illegal trade.
Earlier in August, as many as three illegal liquor units were bulldozed at Salia Sahi in Bhubaneswar following a raid by the Commissionerate Police.
Huge amount of country liquor and other manufacturing equipment were seized during the raid. A secret underground chamber was found inside a room during the raid. Illegal trading of country liquor was going on inside the secret chamber. All kinds of luxurious goods including Wi-Fi facilities were found inside the secret chamber.
