The physical fitness test for Home Guard recruitment, which was scheduled to be held on Wednesday at the OSAP 7th Battalion ground in Bhubaneswar, has been postponed by two days.
The announcement was made by the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police through official social media handles, citing transportation difficulties faced by candidates.
The revised date for the physical test is July 18, and it will be conducted at the same venue and time as previously announced.
Candidates, who had qualified in the third stage, written examination, were eagerly preparing for the final phase of recruitment when the change was notified.
Commissionerate Police clarified that the decision was taken keeping in mind the inconvenience caused to candidates, especially those traveling from suburban and rural areas.
This move comes after similar concerns led to the extension of the document verification schedule earlier this month.
Over 3,000 candidates had appeared for the written examination held recently for recruitment into the Home Guard force.
Successful candidates will have to clear the physical test before moving on to the final rounds of medical verification and appointment.
Authorities have urged candidates to adhere to the updated schedule and assured that all necessary arrangements will be in place on the rescheduled date.
