A woman, who was critically injured in a Mo Bus accident that killed her daughter on Friday evening, succumbed to her injuries at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Monday. 

Reports stated that she was battling grievous injuries and was unable to recover.

The incident in question happened on the night of February 14 when a speeding Mo Bus, returning to Kalinga Nagar depot, allegedly rammed into two scooters in front of a mall in the Patrapada area of the state capital.

The first impact crushed a woman to death on the spot while throwing her husband meters away, leaving him with severe injuries.

Shockingly, the driver began a rampage and hit another scooter, dragging it along for a distance before being stopped by locals. The collision had killed a woman and left her mother in a critical condition. Despite being taken to AIIMS, she passed away this morning.

Notably, eyewitnesses reported the bus was speeding recklessly. Additionally, enraged locals vandalized the bus, leading the police to arrest the driver.

Meanwhile, viral footage of the Patrapada crash has intensified public outrage, with residents demanding stricter safety protocols.

Further, the incident came close after a February 4 accident in the Raghunathpur area of Bhubaneswar, where a Mo Bus killed a minor girl.

Stringent scrutiny and demands to address the growing menace of Mo Bus accidents have risen over the past several days. The outrage also prompted Housing and Urban Development Minister, Krushna Chandra Mohapatra to announce that the state government-run buses will be renamed to ‘Ama Bus’ and also be fitted with camera and surveillance systems to ensure proper enforcement of safety protocols.
