A high-level inquiry committee was constituted on Saturday following the sudden collapse of the Biswasray marketing complex building, located in front of the district police headquarters along National Highway-26 in Koraput town.
As per reports, two technical teams have been formed under the supervision of the Municipal and Housing Construction Department to investigate the incident.
It has been directed that all buildings under the municipality’s jurisdiction will be inspected, and strict action will be taken to seal unsafe structures. Authorities have issued an administrative notice to close all such hazardous buildings.
All commercial establishments in Koraput town will undergo thorough inspection to ensure safety compliance.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday when the decades-old Biswasray marketing complex building suddenly collapsed, resulting in the death of one person. As many as two other persons were also injured in the process.

The personnel of the ODRAF, Fire Service personnel, along with the district police, conducted rescue operation. Vehicular movement on the highway through the town was temporarily halted during the rescue operation.
The administration has pledged a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
