According to sources, this infection, though not common, can lead to significant weakness and potential paralysis.
The State’s Public Health Department remains watchful. Authorities have stated they are prepared to align their response with any forthcoming national guidelines.
“While there are no specific instructions or advisories from the Central government at this stage, we will act in accordance with any future directives,” the Director of Public Health Dr. Nilakantha Mishra mentioned.
“Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a water-borne viral infection, which usually causes paralysis,” Dr. Mishra expressed.
“Cases have been detected in Maharashtra and Gujarat. No cases of the viral infection have been found in Odisha so far,” the Director stated.
