The enforcement team of Commercial Taxes (CT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) raided two places linked to a business house, Patra Agency in Dhenkanal on suspicion of tax evasion on Friday.
Two teams of GST consisting of eight to ten officers simultaneously raided two shoe godowns of Patra Agency at Baji Chowk and Jagan Nagar in Dhenkanal.
Speaking about the inspection, Angul GST Enforcement Deputy Commissioner, Sibasis Suryakant Sahu said, “We have some information about Patra Agency from its return scrutiny. We also have evidence against it from our business intelligence sources. With due permission, we are looking at the business operation here.”
“All the papers about objection points will be taken along with the actual stock. They will be verified on paper to ascertain the actual status of his alleged GST fraud,” he added.
More information will be shared after the completion of the raids, he said adding appropriate action will be taken against the business house based on the findings in the raid.
No comments were made by Patra Agency proprietors in this connection.
Earlier in November last year, GST officials had conducted raids on prominent jewellery shops in Bargarh and Bolangir districts.
Laptops and important documents were seized during the raid conducted by a 15-member team of Balangir and Nuapada divisions of GST.
