A Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his official quarters on the premises of Narayanpatna block office in Koraput on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Kiran Kumar Choudhry. He was engaged in Kumbhari panchayat office. He was staying alone in the official quarters. While the exact reason behind his death has not been ascertained, local people seek to know if the GRS has committed suicide or has been murdered. A pall of gloom descended on the area following his death.
Meanwhile, police recovered his body and started an investigation into the matter while his family members were present at the block office.
As per reports, when police broke into the room, his body was found in a sleeping position and some liquor bottles were scattered around in the room.
Police came to know that the GRS was a habitual boozer. Given the circumstances in the room, his family members suspect that Kiran might have died of excess alcohol consumption.
According to sources of the bereaved family, Kiran was found under the influence of liquor on the side of a road a few days ago.
However, no reaction from police has been received.
