Tension erupted at Bhadrak’s Basudevpur after two groups clashed over ownership of a community centre being built under the Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha programme.
As per reports, a community centre is currently under construction at Madhusudanpur under Basudebpur block. It is being made with the funds provided under the Nabin Odisha programme.
A man named Upendra Sahu and his supporters arrived at the community centre during the roof casting of the building and opposed the construction. At the same time, Madhusudanpur ward member Suresh Chandra Panigrahi also reached the spot and told the workers to carry out the roof casting.
Soon, an argument ensued between Upendra and Suresh which turned into a face off situation. Angry Upendra and his supporters allegedly attacked Suresh and injured him.
“Upendra came to the spot and threatened the construction workers with dire consequences if they continued the construction work. I reached the spot and asked Upendra why he was opposing the work. But he got agitated. Upendra along with his wife and brother dragged me to a nearby house and attacked me with an intention to kill me,” alleged Suresh.
A complaint was filed at the police station following which a probe has been launched.
