A high-speed road network will be created in Odisha under the ‘PM Gati Shakti’ yojana. One can reach Jeypore town of Koraput from Gopalpur of Ganjam in around three and half hours, Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan informed on Friday.
The proposed network will span over a vast area starting from the Tiring locality of Mayurbhanj up to Motu of Malkangiri district. As per the plan, mining areas, ports, and industrial areas in the State will be interconnected. A high-speed highway road is to be constructed from Gopalpur port to Jeypore town. Moreover, the first phase of construction of the proposed ‘grand ring road’ will begin soon, the Works Minister said.

“High-speed network is being constructed across the country under ‘PM Gati Shakti’ yojana to facilitate the transportation and logistics. Similarly, a high-speed road network will also be constructed from Gopalpur town to Jeypore, which is now a growing industrial area supported by mining. Keeping that in mind, we discussed point-to-point details of different phases of the project, yesterday. It now takes nearly nine hours to cover the distance,” Works Minister Harichandan said while briefing mediapersons.
“We have plans to construct high-speed logistics roads also in other parts,” the Minister added.
