Several students of Balisankara Girls Higher Secondary School on Friday staged a road blockade alleging sexual harassment. The students blocked the road near Chandini chhak.
The students alleged that the headmaster of the school, Pramod Nayak used to make objectionable gestures and remarks. Though the students had informed the matter to the teachers and senior administrative officials, no step was allegedly taken regarding their grievances. As a result, the students of class 9 and 10 staged a road blockade demonstration.
Despite rain, the students sat on roads demanding the district Collector to come to the spot and give in writing regarding action against the headmaster. It is alleged that despite repeated complaints, the grievances of the students were ignored and overlooked.
As a result, the students were forced to launch a massive road blockade agitation. Till the last report came in, senior officials, including local BDO, Tehsildar and other police officials were on the spot and holding talks with the students.
