Marriages are made in heaven. This proverbial saying came true in case of two Divyangs who tied the nuptial knot in the Remuna area of Balasore.
Sarat Mohanty, a resident of Saharda village under Remuna block and Jyotismita, a resident of Chhanapuar exchanged wedding vows. The couple is hard of hearing as well as speaking. Their parents had never thought of finding them a match.
Their disability was perceived as a barrier in effective communication. Despite such apprehensions, their relatives are hopeful of a successful married life.
Gopinath Mohanty, Sarat’s father said, "The marriage ceremony was organised traditionally on Friday. There was a large gathering. But we are a little worried about how the two will communicate with each other.”
She added the couple has started to communicate with each other through gestures.
Damodar Mohanty, a relative of Sarat said, "This marriage gives a message to society that the Divyangs can lead a normal life together. The rest is God's wish.”
