Garbage, nauseating smell on Capital Hospital premises in Bhubaneswar trigger resentment

The garbage problem has cropped up again at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, causing concerns for authorities. 

As per reports, an atmosphere of foul smell prevailed on hospital premises on Wednesday with huge piles of bio-medical waste and stale food packets lying scattered on the roadside in front of the paediatrics department. 

As the garbage piles have not been disposed of, the unhygienic atmosphere and the stench that continues to emanate from garbage piles and decomposed food have caused discontent among patients, their attendants, and residents living in the surrounding areas.

Speaking to the media, a person, whose relative was admitted to the hospital, expressed his displeasure, and lamented, “For last two days, I have seen the garbage piles lying at the place. The piles are not removed. Such a nauseating smell will cause health problems for patients as well as others, but the hospital authorities and the BMC are making big claims on sanitation.”

Another attendant said that the atmosphere fouled by piles of garbage is very nauseating and it is unbearable to move inside the hospital premises.     

On the other hand, some staff of the agency engaged in garbage disposal said that the trash will be removed soon.

However, no reaction was received from the hospital authorities.
