The capital city Bhubaneswar has donned a festive look with dazzling Puja pandals and artistically crafted gates on the occasion of Ganesh Puja on Wednesday.

From mythological themes to temple replicas, every corner of Bhubaneswar is glowing with creativity. Yet, one puja gate in the MLA Colony has stolen the spotlight for its unusual and eco-friendly twist.

The Passion Club at MLA Colony has built a massive Puja gate using nothing less than 10,000 to 12,000 plastic water bottles. Both new and used bottles have been meticulously arranged to form the striking structure, which is drawing large crowds of curious onlookers.

Club organisers said this year marks the 20th anniversary of their Puja celebrations, and they wanted to celebrate the milestone with something innovative.

“During the immersion ceremony of Goddess Durga, we distribute water bottles among people. We buy them in large quantities. This year, we decided to recycle and reuse those bottles for our Puja gate. With this initiative, we want to spread the message of reducing plastic use,” said Ashok Kumar Palei, president of Passion Club.
