In yet another case of suspected heart attack, an Additional District Collector collapsed while performing on stage in Odisha’s Gajapati. The senior bureaucrat Birendra Das was reportedly singing on the stage during a gala dinner ceremony when he collapsed all of a sudden.
The heartbreaking incident occurred when the local administration officials had organised a dinner party near Paralakhemundi-based Brundaban Palace.
The officer was performing when he felt uneasy and collapsed on the stage. He was immediately rushed to Paralakhemundi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) from where he was shifted to Berhampur MKCG Medical College and Hospital after his condition worsened.
However, doctors at MKCG declared him dead. The exact reason of the death is yet to be ascertained. Birendra’s sudden death has left shockwaves in the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief over the untimely demise and said that Das was a dedicated and responsible officer who always worked for the public good. He was universally admired for his superior administrative skills. The Chief Minister said that the state has lost an efficient administrative officer.
