Thousands of lecturers, ASHA workers, Pachika Sangha workers and tribals have staged protests at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar seeking fulfillment of their various demands.
Members of 662 Category Lecturers’ Association have been staging their protests in the Capital City for the last 226 days seeking equal payment for equal work. They have submitted their memorandums to the MLAs and Ministers at their official residences in Bhubaneswar today.
“In a democratic set up, the MLAs should consider our demands as we are not able to meet the Chief Minister and the 5T Secretary. We are hopeful that the legislators will raise our demands in the Assembly so that those demands are fulfilled,” said a protesting teacher.
Meanwhile, hundreds of ASHA workers have hit the streets in Bhubaneswar demanding permanent jobs. They have demanded to increase in their monthly salary to Rs 26,000. Moreover, they have also demanded a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 and an assistance of Rs 8 lakh in case of their death.
As the government is not paying any attention to their repeated requests, they have intensified their protests this time.
Moreover, headmasters across the schools in Odisha have been given the responsibilities of providing mid-day meals to the students with the help of other cooks as the members of Pachika Sangha workers have staged a protest in the Capital City seeking fulfillment of their various demands.
Headmasters of more than 2300 schools in Balasore are preparing mid-day meals for students with the help of other cooks today.
Meanwhile, hundreds of tribals have been staging protests at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar demanding the implementation of Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act or PESA. They have alleged that both the State and Centre are not taking any steps to implement the Act.
