Srimandir is back in the news again over the alleged entry of some non-Hindus on Sunday. As many as four non-Hindus and that too from neighbouring Bangladesh entered Srimandir in Puri.
Nine non-Hindus were detained by the Singhadwar police. Their passports and documents were seized.
As per reports, four of the nine detainees had managed to enter the 12th-century shrine while the rest were outside the temple.
However, the intention of their entry into the temple has not been ascertained even as police have started an investigation into the matter and the circumstances under which they managed to go inside the temple.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Puri, Sushil Mishra said, “We received complaints that some people of other religion entered the temple. We have detained the people who entered the temple. We are verifying their documents and looking into the matter.”
No reaction was received from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration in this regard.
