In a major development, Paradip Lock Police have detained four Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly entering Odisha illegally. Acting on credible information, police conducted a raid and took the individuals into custody for interrogation.
According to sources, all four belong to the same family and are suspected to have entered Odisha through West Bengal before making their way to Paradip. However, their exact purpose of crossing the international border remains unclear.
During the preliminary inquiry, the detainees failed to produce any valid identity documents. Police officials confirmed that the individuals have confessed to the facts during questioning.
All four have been housed at a rental accommodation in Atharbanki, under police watch. Further action will be taken based on instructions from higher authorities and in accordance with relevant laws.
Paradip Police have intensified the investigation to determine the motive behind the illegal entry and to verify if there is any larger network involved.
“We have detained four Bangladeshi nationals. They will be deported after all necessary official procedure,” said Smrutiranjan Kar, Additional SP, Paradip.
