Former Odisha DGP Sarat Mishra passes away at 88

Retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and former Director General of Police (DGP), Odisha Sarat Chandra Mishra passed away on Tuesday. He was 88.

Mishra was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after being tested positive for dengue. He breathed his last at 7.22 am.   

Mishra, an IPS officer of 1959 batch, had served in the Research and Analysis Wing (R & AW) for a long time.

Described as an officer with impeccable integrity, Mishra was devoted to reading, writing and education after retirement. He was honoured with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi award.  

Odisha Police offered condolence to Sarat Chandra Mishra and said that he left a legacy of selfless service to the people of Odisha.

Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) chairman Abhay also expressed grief over the passing away of Mishra.
