A forester in Padmapur has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl. The officer, Narsingha Satapathy, aged 59, works in the Kenduguda section under the Gudari range of Odisha.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday at around 11:00 when Satapathy allegedly tried to entice the minor into his residence while she was returning from school. Luckily, the victim’s little sister was at the scene and rushed to inform their family of the situation. The girl's relatives then acted swiftly, intervening to rescue her and alert the village residents.

Allegations By Parents:

“My daughter had gone to school in the morning and was returning home when the forester tried to rape her. He dragged her into his room and molested her. However, her sister who was also with her cried for help following which fellow villagers rushed to her rescue,” alleged victim’s mother.

Likewise, the victim’s father alleged, “My girl had gone to school. The forester on her way back home first tried to lure her into his room with chocolates and notebooks. When she refused, he dragged her into his room and tried to rape her.”

Local Reaction and Arrest

Following this alert, locals reportedly confronted and assaulted Satapathy before handing him over to police. On being informed, a police team under Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Dharanidhar Pradhan of the Padmapur police station arrived promptly, taking Satapathy into custody, and registered a formal case against him.

The accused is scheduled to be presented before the Gunupur Court as per police procedure.

Ongoing Investigation

A case has been filed against Narasingha Satpathy, classified as case number 44. Inspector Pradhan confirmed that the investigation is actively progressing. The forester is expected to stand before the Gunupur court on the following day.
