Food Officer to be appointed in Puri Srimandir
In a bid to check the quality of ‘Mahaprasad’ and other ‘Sukhili Bhogs’ offered to the Holy Trinity in Puri Srimandir, a Food Officer will be appointed soon, informed Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Wednesday.
Apart from checking the quality of ‘Bhogs’, the Food Officer will also check the purity of ghee used in all the food items.
Harichandan further informed that a guideline in this regard will be issued by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) soon.
Notably, the Odisha Government’s decision on the appointment of a Food Officer at Puri Srimandir comes in the wake of the controversy surrounding the quality of laddus prepared at Tirupati temple.
It has been alleged that substandard materials including animal fat were used during laddu preparation at Tirupati temple.
