Amid the growing public anger and political reactions over the tragic death of Balasore’s Fakir Mohan College student, her grieving father has made an emotional appeal, urging everyone not to politicise his daughter’s death.
Folding his hands and breaking down in tears, he said, “My daughter is gone. Please don’t do politics in her name. The government has been sensitive to the incident and has responded by fulfilling some of the family’s demands, with assurance to act on the rest.”
Recounting the support extended by top leaders, he shared that President Droupadi Murmu spoke with him for ten minutes and had prayed for her recovery while she was battling for life. He also confirmed that Chief Minister Mohan Majhi held a discussion with the family.
Despite his plea for calm, her father firmly stated that the fight for justice will continue until the guilty are punished. “I am mentally disturbed. However, I will continue my fight until she gets justice,” he said.
Expressing grief over his sister’s untimely demise, her brother said, “I am heartbroken. We never expected that she would take such an extreme step. I lit the funeral pyre. I will continue my fight until she gets justice. Besides, I urge the government to take necessary steps so that such incidents don’t happen in the future again.”
