A major fire broke out at a private engineering college located in Jagamara, Bhubaneswar, on Friday. Initial reports suggest that a few people, including students and faculty, have been injured in the fire mishap. The reason behind the fire is still unknown, and the extent of damage has not yet been ascertained.

As per reports, 10 to 12 ambulances rushed to the spot, and the injured were immediately transferred to the hospital for treatment. Nearly 100 individuals, including students, staff, and faculty, were present in the classroom when the incident took place.

Overcrowded Ambulances, Rescue Efforts Continue

Each ambulance reportedly carried at least five to six injured persons. There are still more people stranded inside the classroom, where authorities and fire services are making continuous efforts to rescue them.

The college authorities initially denied the reports of fire. However, student accounts and visual evidence confirmed the incident.

Student Alleges Fire Caused by AC Compressor Burst

One of the students said, “We were nearly 100 students and were receiving ‘development training’ when suddenly there was a blast in the AC compressor, causing the fire. We are okay now.”

Safety Concerns Resurface on Campus

As per reports, a similar fire incident had occurred in the past at a different building of the same college, raising serious questions about the overall safety standards on the campus.

No official comments have been received from the concerned college authorities in connection with the incident.
