A fire broke out at one of the floors of Odisha Television Network's (OTN) studio located at Sarua in Khordha early this morning. Employees present spotted smoke emanating from the building and alerted the Fire Services personnel.
On being informed, three teams of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the flames, sources informed, adding that no casualty was reported in the mishap.
Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, an electric short circuit is suspected to be the reason.
“Shooting was underway till 1:45 AM at studio - 4. However, at around 5:15 AM today morning, we spotted smoke emanating from the studio and immediately alerted the fire personnel. By the time firefighters arrived at the spot, our security personnel, housekeeping staff, and other employees made efforts to douse the blaze using fire extinguishers, water, and sand,” informed Dipti Ranjan, PR Executive.
“There has been no life damage or any injuries. Unfortunately, property has been damaged in the blaze and a conclusion will be reached after a proper investigation,” he added.
Minaketan Behera, Khordha Assistant Fire Officer said, “The Begunia fire department received the information first and rushed to the spot. Later, we reached with a water tanker. Now, the blaze has been extinguished completely. It is danger-free. There are no casualties or injuries, but the property has been damaged. We suspect an electric short circuit to be the cause of the fire.”
