FIR lodged against BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das’ brother for ‘assaulting’ vegetable vendor

Vegetable vendor Nagan Nayak filed an FIR against BJD's Pranab Prakash Das' brother Bhaba for assault and theft in Jajpur. Allegations include damage to goods worth Rs 10,000.

A vegetable vendor on Friday lodged an FIR against BJD organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das’ brother Bhaba Prakash Das at Jajpur police station alleging that he was threatened and thrashed by Bhaba and his associates.

The victim also alleged that Bhaba and his associates snatched Rs 1,200 from him. A case under BNS 115 (2), 296, 3 (5), 303 (2), 324 (4) has been registered in this connection.

As per reports, when Jajpur district administration was trying to shift a hat to its earlier place, some people in the area staged protests by blocking road. When a vegetable vendor identified as Nagan Nayak came to the hat to sell vegetables, Pranab Prakash Das’ brother Bhaba Prakash Das and his cousin Balabhadra Das along with 50 other persons allegedly thrashed him. They also allegedly damaged his vegetables amounting Rs 10,000 and snatched Rs 1200 from him.

Following the development, the vegetable vendor lodged an FIR against Bhaba, Balabhadra and 48 others at Jajpur police station.

However, no reaction could be obtained from Pranab Prakash Das or his brother in this regard.

On Thursday, as many as 10 persons were sent to jail for allegedly attacking Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sahoo. Himanshu was attacked allegedly by supporters of BJD organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das near Budhapola area of the Jajpur district on Wednesday evening.

As per the allegation, some supporters of Das attacked Himanshu with iron rods and sticks. They allegedly thrashed Himanshu, snatched his gold chain and damaged his vehicle.
