Ferrari supercar
Breaking his silence about the recent accident of the Ferrari supercar on National Highway-16 under Nachuni Police limits of Khordha district, the vehicle owner Bijan Barik from Bhubaneswar refuted reports of supercar racing on the occasion of Independence Day.
According to Barik, the car veered into the side of the road due to torrential rain and muddy road. Fortunately, no damage was done as the car was running only at 40-50km per hour.
“I and my driver were in the car. The driver was driving the car and it was not any kind of racing on the occasion of Independence Day. The Ferrari car has been registered under my trust and I am the owner. The vehicle has also all the proper documents,” said Barik.
Meanwhile, a person identified as Bijay Nayak, who happens to be the owner of a roadside dhaba, has registered an FIR against Barik in Tangi Police Station in connection with the accident.
In response, Barik said, “After the vehicle skidded off the road, some persons were present there. They asked me to give them Rs 40,000-Rs 50,000. However, I denied it. Hence, they have lodged false complaints against me in the police station.”
“We were returning in a group with nearly 20 vehicles on the occasion of the Independence Day rally. The road was waterlogged. As the vehicle has low profile tyres and less ground clearance, it veered off the road. The road is not meant for racing here. Had the car been at a speed of more than 50 km per hour, there would have been heavy damage to the vehicle. We were keeping a considerable amount of distance between the vehicles during the rally and informed the police about it earlier,” he added.
Meanwhile, Khordha SP Abinash Kumar informed that the car has been seized and kept at Kuhuri Police Outpost.
“All the documents of the car are being checked. No permission was granted for any kind of racing on that day. If any kind of fault is found, necessary action will be taken,” said Abinash Kumar.
