In a tragic incident, a youth and his father died after a wall collapsed on them at Paschimabada under Balasore’s Jaleswar police limits on Monday. The deceased youth's mother has also sustained multiple injuries in the mishap.
The deceased have been identified as Sheikh Samiruddin and his son Sheikh Arif.
As per reports, Arif and his parents were sitting beside a house along the road when its wall suddenly collapsed and fell down on them.
While Arif reportedly died on the spot, his father Samiruddin and mother Asima Biwi were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. However, Samiruddin later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. His mother, Asima is currently undergoing treatment.
“The trio was collecting chips from the road. A pucca wall adjacent to the road collapsed on them. I heard the commotion and rushed to their rescue. We cleared the debris and took the trio to the hospital. The wall belonged to his (Deceased) brother’s house,” said a local.
Deceased Samiruddin’s relative, Asam Biwi said, “They were sitting beside the wall when it fell on them. My sister-in-law called us. We rushed to the spot and rescued her. She told us that her husband and son are still under the debris. I called more people who came and found them.”
Following the incident, the police reached the spot and launched a probe in connection with the incident.
