A case of alleged social ostracism against the family of an additional superintendent of police (ASP) has surfaced from Dhenkanal district in Odisha.

According to sources, the incident has been reported from the Aukhama area of Dhenkanal where additional SP Niranjan Behera stated that his family was facing social and religious boycott for the past 11 months.

As per reports, a dispute began between the ASP’s family and the villagers in September 2023 over the construction of a road. Locals had reportedly asked the family to leave around five feet of land around their plot to facilitate the construction of a concrete road, intended to be for public use.
