Cuttack gang rape case: Family members of victim allege involvement of another person, says Cuttack DCP

In a latest development in the Cuttack gang rape case, family members of the gang rape victim in Cuttack have alleged involvement of another person in the heinous crime, said Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena on Sunday.

Speaking to media about the development in the case, Meena said, “All the six persons mentioned in the FIR have been arrested. The family members of the victim have informed us about the involvement of another unknown person in the crime. We have been investigating about it. If any other person will be found to have been involved in the crime, he will be arrested.”

According to DCP Meena, any specific security has not been provided to the family members of the victim.

“If we provide specific security to the family of the victim, their identity will be leaked. So, we have not provided security explicitly. However, we are in touch with them. As per the family members, the victim is well. If required we will provide them help. The victim is at her home under the guardianship of her parents,” said Meena.

“The seized mobile will be sent to the forensic science laboratory to know if there is any obscene video in it. We have also asked the Tehsildar to submit the joint inquiry report for compensation and we will send it soon,” he added.

Meanwhile, it has been alleged that hookah is illegally used in the café. 

In response, DCP Meena informed that Purighat police will investigate the matter following which necessary actions will be taken.

Notably, as many as six persons were arrested a few days back for allegedly gang raping a college student repeatedly for several days in Cuttack.

As per reports, the victim girl had celebrated her birthday with her boyfriend at a café in Purighat Police limits during Dussehra time. Her boyfriend with the help of the cafe owner, who is a resident of the Bharatpur area, secretly shot some obscene act

Later, the café owner, her boyfriend and his friends called her to a house located in Barang area. She was gang raped there. Later she was blackmailed with the video and raped repeatedly by the accused.
