A family in Bhadrak has accused former MLA Muktikanta Mandal of issuing threats and conspiring to implicate in a false case in connection with the death of a person.
The family of one Lipika Barik from Kanchakhia village has alleged that they are having a property dispute with a group and the matter is now sub-judice in court. However, the ex-MLA is allegedly interfering in the matter and issuing threats through his associates, alleges Lipika.
With no other option, Lipika's family staged a dharna in front of Bhadrak SP's office seeking justice. The family called off their protest after getting necessary assurances from the senior cop.
However, no comments could be obtained from the SP and former MLA over the allegations brought by Lipika and her family.
"The nephew of ex-MLA Muktikant Mandal and others had come to burn our house. When my grandfather intervened, they escaped from the spot. We have appropriate visuals in which the miscreants could be heard hurling abuses," alleged Lipika.
