Odisha Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Friday requested the farmers of the State not to bring extremely lower quality paddy to the mandis for procurement purposes.
According to the Minister, the government will provide Rs 3,100 per quintal of fair average quality paddy. He further said that the farmers were misinformed that they would be provided Rs 3,100 per quintal of any quality of paddy.
“Though the quality of the paddy has been affected due to the unseasonal torrential rain, the government will procure the produce. However, it will not be possible to procure the paddy if it is of extremely low quality as the government is providing compensation for the damaged paddy. The extremely lower quality of paddy will not be bought in the market and FCI will not also accept it. When the government is giving compensation for the damaged paddy, there is no question of procuring it in the mandis,” said Minister Patra.
