The water level is rising in different rivers of Odisha due to incessant rain induced by low pressure. However, except for Baitarani, there is no flood threat in any other rivers of the State, said the Engineer-in-Chief of the State Water Resources Department, Bhakta Ranjan Mohanty.
As per Mohanty, around five lakh cusecs of water is currently flowing through Khairamal in Boudh. Around six lakh cusecs of flood water will reach Mundali by 10 am tomorrow.
“The Water Resource Department is fully alert for any kind of situation. Senior officers have been sent to Jajpur and Bhadrak to review flood situations there,” said Mohanty.
“The flood water will breach the danger level mark at Akhuapada by this evening. So, except for Baitarani, flood threat is not there in any rivers in Odisha. Though the water level will rise in Mahanadi, there is no chance of flood in the river,” he added.
Notably, Baitarani has crossed the danger mark at Rajghat. Currently, the water level of the river stands at 39.14 m against danger mark of 36.36 m.
Bansadhara River is also in spate with the water level crossing the danger mark in the Gajapati district. Water in the river is flowing at 54.90 m as against the danger mark of 54.60 m near Kashinagar.
