It seems that two tuskers are now on a rampage in several areas of Bonai in Sundargarh district. As per reports, the two elephants have been separated from their respective herds and are causing extensive damage to houses and other property.
One of the tuskers has unleashed terror in areas of Badaposh, Gogua, Telidihi, and other areas under Talita beat range. It is said that the tusker has entered Badaposh area after crossing the river from Kuliposh range. Similarly, the other tusker has damaged several houses in Singhatola areas under Bonai beat.
The Forest department officials are trying to drive away the wild tuskers from human settlements.
“The tuskers had left the area and returned a couple of days back. That is because the officials drove the tusker from Kuliposh range toward Bonai range. It seems that there is a lack of coordination between the Forest Department officials,” said Karmabira Das, a local resident.
Das further said that the residents of Bonai will intensify their agitation against such apathy of the Forest Department in finding a permanent solution. No comments have been received from the concerned officials.
