Elaborate security arrangements in place for Deva Snana Purnima in Puri

An elaborate security arrangement has been made by the police administration for the Deva Snana Purnima or the ceremonial bathing of the deities of the Srimandir, to be held in Puri on Saturday.

Lakhs of devotees are expected to throng Puri on the occasion of the Holy bathing festival of Lord Jagannath and Sibling deities Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra. Massive security arrangements have been made by Puri Police for the occasion.

According to Puri SP Pinak Mishra, a total of 68 platoon police forces including four SP rank officers, 12 Additional SP rank officers, 22 DSPs, around 60 Inspectors and more than 290 SIs have been deployed to ensure smooth darshan of the devotees and conduct of the festival.

“The devotees will go through a barricade to have darshan of ‘Chaturdha Murti’ on Snana Bedi and they will exit through three doors. Starting from the Market Square area, it has been declared as no-vehicle zone. Only pass holders can go till Marchikot Chhak,” said Mishra in a presser on Friday.

“Devotees have been told to contact on 112 number in case of any kind of emergency situation. Ticket holders will make entry from the south door during the ‘Pahandi’ ritual of the deities. Devotees can’t touch the deities during ‘Pahandi’ ritual. Lifeguards have been deployed on the sea beach for the security of the tourists,” he added.

Where to park vehicles and how to reach Srimandir?

•    All the town buses/ rickshaws are allowed up to Medical Square. 

•    All bikes and small vehicles coming from Bhubaneswar will reach Shree Setu through Harekrushnapur Square.

•    Commuters can park their vehicles at Jagannath Vallabh and Jail Road.

•    Vehicles coming from Brahmagiri side to be parked at Mangalaghat Square, Blue Flag Beach and Nilachal Ashok Hotel.

•    Vehicles coming from Konark side to be parked at Grid Station Square, Blue Flag Beach and Nilachal Ashok Hotel.

•    Bike parking arrangement has been made from Nayak Plaza to Medical Square on Grand Road.

•    No parking is allowed near and around Srimandir.
