Each panchayat in Odisha will have an 'Ayushman Arogya Mandir', announced Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi upon his return from New Delhi on Tuesday.

Majhi, who was accorded a grand welcome upon his return from the national capital after singing an MoU with the central government to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme in the State, informed that the 'Ayushman Arogya Mandir' will have all the necessary infrastructure and ANMs. Besides, health workers and yoga instructors will be engaged there.

Speaking to the media, Majhi said, "Ayushman Bharat Yojana was launched by PM Modi in 2018, but it was not implemented in Odisha when BJD was in power because of their vested interests. After we came to power in Odisha, we announced the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the state."

"An MoU has been signed between the State and the Central Government. This will benefit 1.3 crore people of the state. This will be implemented in 30,000 hospitals in the country where benefits can be taken by showing a single card by the people of Odisha...," Majhi added.

The scheme will ensure special provisions for continuous medical care for senior citizens above 70 years. Besides, the scheme provides treatment at over 29,000 hospitals nationwide.

Under Ayushman Bharat, men can avail treatment benefits up to Rs 5 lakhs and women up to Rs 10 lakhs.

Nearly 2,000 medical procedures across 27 specialities are covered under the scheme, including major surgeries like bypass surgeries and knee replacements.
