Drunk driving enforcement: Cops seize over Rs 4 lakh from car in Bhubaneswar

The car, driven by Dibyajyoti Nayak, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, rammed into barricades set up by police. Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda confirmed the incident. Following inspection, police recovered around Rs 4.77 lakh from the car. Nayak has been detained, and further investigations are ongoing.

The Commissionerate Police seized over Rs 4 lakh from a car during a drink and drive enforcement near OMFED square in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night.

As per initial reports, the driver of the car, Dibyajyoti Nayak was allegedly driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, informed Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda.

The vehicle rammed into the barricades installed by the cops to stop vehicles during the enforcement activity.

After a detailed inspection, the police personnel recovered around Rs 4.77 lakh from the car. The youth has been detained and further investigation in connection with the incident is underway.

Sources said that an investigation is also underway to ascertain the source of the money.
