In what is seen as a major security breach, a drone allegedly flew over the restricted zone of Hirakud dam in Odisha. The visuals have also been uploaded on social media. Not only drone, but visuals of Hirakud’s operation gallery have also gone viral.
When contacted, Hirakud dam’s chief engineer stated that such an incident should not have happened.
It is pertinent to mention here that the incident of drone flying and capturing visuals from the restricted zone is a matter of concern when there is round-the-clock security at Hirakud dam in Sambalpur. Only authorised persons are allowed and the incident has raised suspicion as the visuals have been captured from both Burla and Hirakud side from the drone.
It is said that it is a breach in the security of Hirakud dam which is a critical establishment in the state. Any impact will not only be on Sambalpur but also on other coastal districts of Odisha.
It is alleged that drone visuals were posted by some bloggers. It is suspected that the other video of the operation gallery was shot from mobile phone when the season’s first floodwater was released from Hirakud dam on Sunday.
