Dolphin rescued from Paradip fishing harbour succumbs to injuries

A dolphin rescued from the number-4 jetty of Paradip fishing harbour succumbed to its injuries in less than a few moments of its rescue on Sunday. The news of the mammal’s death has left animal lovers in the region shocked. 

Sources said, some fishermen first spotted the injured mammal battling for life near a damaged fishing trawler. They immediately took steps to rescue it. But a moment later, it died.  

It is suspected that the mammal might have suffered injuries after either getting entangled in a fishing net or being hit by a trawler. 

However, reactions from the Paradip port authorities could not be obtained.
